In this short article, we will talk about:
Increasing vocabulary is a big objective of many of our students.
Having a wide range of vocabulary helps you to have more fluent conversations, as you are not stopping or pausing because you can´t think of the words.
It helps you to explain things better and enrichs your conversations.
As your English level increases, it is useful to learn more vocabulary such as expressions, phrasal verbs, and conjunctions, which are all useful for enriching your English language.
Expose yourself to English more.
You can do this in more formal ways by memorising specific sets of vocabulary, which is a good focused way of learning, especially if you need to learn a specific set of vocab.
Other ways of learning vocab, and consolidating and remembering what you have learned is through continued immersion - reading, listening, etc.
This way you are more likely to remember as the vocab is used in context.
For me to know a new word in Spanish - and use it meaningfully - I have to hear it 3 times. If it´s an expression, more times.
This is why immersing yourself in English as much as possible is the best way to improve. The more you hear the new words or expressions, the more likely you are to remember them and use them.

This is a website with resources for the B2 Cambridge exam, and daily from Monday to Friday you can learn or review 1 phrasal verb, 1 expression and 1 word formation.
Set a daily reminder to do it and with 5 minutes every day you can improve your vocabulary.
This is suitable for levels B1 upwards.
We have a vocabulary section in our membership that covers a range of general vocabulary and business-related vocabulary.
They are short video lessons that you can listen to while you exercise, drive or even do housework.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me
and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin)
If you want to remember and be able to use new vocabulary, the best way to do it is to practice it.
Try to speak English at every opportunity.
In our small group classes, individual classes, and company classes, students learn and practice practical vocabulary related to daily life and work.
Classes are 100% speaking so students have the opportunity to practice instead of only just learning, meaning they are more likely to retain the information and remember it to use it in future.
For more information on group classes: GROUP CLASSES
For more information on company classes: COMPANY CLASSES
Be mindful of what you learn and practice - if you need to speak English at work, think about the vocabulary you need.
Is it general business English, like vocabulary and expressions for meetings, phone calls, etc.?
You will find these expressions on our platform in the Meetings course, Phonecalls course, and other classes:
Is it specific vocabulary such as for medical care or IT?
Ask Google or Youtube or search for podcasts in your area.
In conclusion, consistency is key!
With daily activities in English such as listening, reading, watching series and speaking practice, your vocabulary is sure to improve.
